Pickup Blend Problems on my bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey!

I recently change pickups to Nordstrand big splits, and also put in a Aguilar OBP-3 in my bass.
Now i have gotten it working and so, but the problem is with the blend pot in my setup..
when i have it put most to the left it gives me 100% sound from one pickup, and when i have most to the right it also gives me 100% volume but from the other pickups.. so far everything is right.. but when i start turning it to the middle, the volume just gets lower, until i am in the "middle" of the pot, where the volume is totally turned off.
So instead of give the other pickup more volume it just lowers the first pickups volume, until i get to the middle, and from there it turns on the other pickups and the volume gets higher the more i turn, until that it does have 100% volume.
So right now it works pretty much as a switch with volume or so.

So, i can't see that i have wired it wrong, and the problem is still there even if run the bass with the pre-amp active, or completley passive. Could it be something wrong with my blend pot?

you can find the "interesting" part of my wiring on this picture, say if you see something wrong.

Thanks in advice!

FWIW:

what are the chances of 2 OBP3 blend issues on the same page. 100% I guess.

Probably out of phase. Anyway, for out of phase reverse the hot and ground lead of either of the pup and that will correct that.

I just tried reversing the neck pickup wires, but that wouldn't correct the problem.. so what could it then be?

The other guy who does have blend problems did only have volume when it was in the middle, for me its exactly the other way - thats where i have no volume at all.

I would think it would be easy to tell, but could you maybe have the signal output and ground reversed on the blend pot?
(The pink one to the Vol and the blue one to gnd in your diagram?)

Actually, according to the scheme everything was right soldered, but i completley took out the blend pot and measured everything. And what i found out was that i had to switch the ground with the output.. and move the ground from the pickups to the other side of the pot (as the grounding is moved to those pins).

so now i just have to spend some time trying it all out
