Sign in to disble this ad
i want change pickup on my fender jazz bass J+P, and i'm trying to chose one.
I mainly play hard & soft rock with some acoustic song, and i'm also in a trash/death metal band.
I really don't know what kind of pickup i can take, and i also don't know where i can listen how they sounds like.
I'm looking for some opinions from someone more expert than me
What do you think about DiMarzio, Bartolini, Kent Armstrong and Seymour Duncan for my purpose?
my last choice was the EMG, but only because i don't want an active bass!
Thanks a lot, and, sorry if my english it's so bad |

The basic sound of the Villex is just full and nice with good detail and output. look up all you have in mind, then do some search on my suggestion. you won't be dissapointed. In fact I'm taking my Villex-loaded Dingwall tonight at the rehearsal, if that says anything

I'd get a noiseless J pickup, probably the Duncan Hot Stack, instead of the single coil Quarter Pounder J.

Other places to shop for pikups are bestbassgear.com but I am not aware of they ship to europe (big import tax).
In fact tonight I auditioned for a band that has a contract for a record ad I took my Villex loaded Dignwall. Do you think I could not choose any other high end bass that I own? (check my partial list of basses plus my 12 Dingwalls; 40+ in total). I got the audition and they were amazed of the sonic posibilities provided; At some point they even asked if it was active listening to the output and the sonic sculpting of the Villex electronics.
