Pickup Configuration and Volume Issues

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Gibson EB3 and it appears as though when I have both pickups selected and I turn volume all the way down on one knob it cuts the volume for both. Is this normal?

4 way selector
- bridge
- neck
- both
- varitone

4 Knob
2 Volume
2 Tone

This occurs when the pickup selector is in the both pickup position.

yep, that sounds right.

you could re-wire it like a jazz bass so that killing one volume left the other pickup on, but it would compromise the tone and the sweep of the volume knobs (jazz bases have to do it that way since there is no switch).

I guess I am just used to basses with no selector switch. Thanks
