Question Which pickup do you favor when you slap?

Not type of p'up, but position. Do you go to the bridge, the neck, mid position?

I mean which pickup are you using? Not where you do it. For instance, on a J-bass, are you cranking the neck pickup or bridge pickup?

I slap in the neck area, but my bass only has a bridge pickup. Doesn't sound very good. Playing by the bridge gives it more of a thud, but I don't find it as comfortable.

Depending on the bass, either 80% biased to the bridge or full-on bridge p'up only with mids boosted.

Between the neck pickup and the neck. I can't get a good feel right on the fingerboard...

On my P-J ibanez I crank the bridge pickup and turn the active circuit on.
On the G&L L-2500 I use both pickups in paralell with active eq boost.
On the carvins I use neck and bridge with the bridge split and out of phase.

I usually play with both pickups full on (Warwick $$)

Jazz bass. Bridge p/u full on. Neck p/u, just a tad.

On a J, I go both pups full on. This gives a bit of a scooped sound that usually sounds good when slapping.

And I love slappin' a P (as long as it doesn't slap back).

On Jazz basses, both pickups full.
On Musicman, bridge pickup only.
