Pickup expert needed!!!

Hey guys,
i'm working on putting together a precision bass with specs and parts to mimic a 74 p-bass...

I was wandering if the precision pickups from the 70's were different from the one in the 60's

Is there any 70'S precision pickup reproduction available?

thanks for your help

Precision pickups have stayed pretty much the same.

Delano says that their regular P pickup combines the 60's oomph with the 70's growl. I tried those pickups and they are great sounding. Nordstrand is another option for you, they are real grindy sounding.

OK, except that the 60s and 70s pickups were made the same way.

I think i read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that the 60's p-bass pickups were kind overwound compare to the 70's version!

So this is not true???

I understand this, I am just quoting the description Delano makes about there P pickup on the BestBass Gear website, and their description was accurate to my ears. And I read somewhere that Fender used different wire in the 70's then they used in the 60's, whether this affects the sounds produced is up for debate.

In the case of the P bass, no.
