I installed an new emg hz pickup in my bass, did all the soldering and the pickup only works when my finger touches the actual pickup, it is grounded to the bridge, why is it doing this and how do i fix it? any help would be greatly appreciated.

FWIW:

apparently the circuit is being completed only due to pressure or contact which means either poor hot or poor ground for whatever reason.

Since the pup has a plasic cover and is epoxy potted, probably a lead issue.

See FAQ Dimento's Trouble Shooting Guide.
