pickup height help...

Sign in to disble this ad
I had a bartolini upgrade done to my carvin a while back (Bart pups and 18 preamp) and have been reading what the average "normal" pickup height is and mine doesn't even come close. The replacement MM bridge pickup was considerably deeper than the factory one and the guy routerd out as much as he could without going through the back into the preamp cavity. But even still at this pickups lowest point it is only 2/32" beneath the outside strings (I set my neck pickup to match this height). Most people recommend 5/32". I haven't notice a problem with this but I was just curious if this was serisouly affecting the tone of my instrument and I just haven't noticed or if this was gonna cause a problem down the road. Any thoughts?

Alright well it looks like a trip to a luthier is in order as the pickups are WAY to close to the strings accordig to carvin and the string is starting to leave a dent in the pickup. I hope I wont be without my bass for TOO long....BOOOOO
