Pickup help for '73 Fender Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I don't believe myself. Send off my '73 Fender J pickups for rewind to Lindy Fralin. Got em back and am totally confused on how they solder back in.....I had marked where the white and black wires connected with a small black marker pen....of course, those marks came back rubbed off. So help me out if you can....
1. do the 2 solder spots position on the control knob side?
2. Are the solder points down or up?
3. Which solder spot gets the white and which to the black on each pickup?
Only thing I am sure on is that the slightly longer pickup is in bridge position.

Please help out this real dummie. I cannot believe I allowed this to happen. Thanks, Bud

OK, no help from anyone yet, but I have another part of the puzzle.....looked carefully at how the pickups were wound. I can tell the solder point where the wire winding begins and the solder point where the wire ends (one wire tucked under, one wire flush with the outer windings). Does that help anyone with which wire (black/white) solders where? Thanks, Bud

So both wires on both pickups are the same color? A picture would be most helpful.

Keep in mind if it was rewound, then that is like constructing them totally again. It does not matter what color for wires they use. What matters is if they are humbucking or single coil type. Consult the many places on the internet and from vendors showing how to wire the guitar.

Well wire them up whichever way. Then if it sounds tinny with both on, switch round the wires coming off one of the pickups, doesnt matter which.
If not, then you are done.
