Pickup Help a beaten horse i am sure...

Okay, so i checked the search field, and did not find anything that helped me out on this subject...so i really could use and advice on the following pick up brands, potentially from someone who has played all three...

Delano, Fralin, and Lollar.
I have a 5 String warmoth build due in any time and I have been unable to determine what pickups to use. To start the bass is going to be passive. I am really looking for 70's style Jazz sound, so i am wondering if anyone has had any luck with any of these or any suggestions anyone can offer. To be pretty specific, Nordstrands are out of my price range, I don't care for bartolini's so am looking for a natural sounding pickup. Any advice or comparisons would be great...i am leaning towards lollar, just need to determine if the 5 string will fit in the routes i have picked out. Thanks in advance.

I may be missing something hear, but Nordstrand are often cheaper than some of the brands you are listing? They are certainly in the same price range, possibly only +/- $10.

Also, what about the SD Antiquity series?

Delano are generally a bit more modern sounding.

Yeah the nordstrands i have looked at are 240-260, where as the lollars are around $180 for the set.

Ah, you weren't really comparing like for like. The more expensive nordie pickups are humbuckers in a a J casing.

The lollar, if I'm right, same with the Frailin's are just regular single coil J pickups. The nordie single coil J pups are ~ $189 (bestbassgear.com)

It just means there will be less hum if you have a bias towards one pickup/or are only using one pickup.

But it does have an impact on the tone and won't sound quite the same as a true single coil pickup.
