pickup/pickguard issues.

Hello, I wasn't sure where to quite put this thread so i've stuck it here. Sorry if it's not where it should be.

I recently purchased a set of DiMarzio Model J pickups for my '92 MIM J-Bass. The neck pickup fits fine, but the bridge doesn't. That's ok because I emailed dimarzio and they're offering to send me a replacement bridge pickup that'll fit, so that issue is settled. However, the issue that i'm having and i'm hoping someone can help out with is that my pickguard doesn't fit anymore over the new neck pickup. Is there a new pickguard that I can buy that will fit over my bass without having to cut up my pickguard?

This happens sometimes. You need to take a file and open up the cut out in the pick guard a little. If you are worried about altering your original pick guard you can buy a new one and file it. Chances are slim that you will find a new one that fits any better than te one you already have.

Yes, the older MIMs use PUs that aren't the same as either the bridge OR neck Jazz PUs.....and they're both the same size. You can get a replacement PG and it will fit the DM neck PU. You may have to do a little routing to get the bridge PU to fit.
