Pickup and Pre upgrade for Ibanez BTB405

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ibanez BTB405 (5 string) that I'm looking to upgrade a bit with better bickups and a better preamp. The stock pu's are bart soapbars and the pre is an 18v "VM3-B VARI-MID 3-Band Bass EQ". I have no idea who makes the pre/eq (ibanez) but I'm sure someone out there knows. The attachment is of the stock preamp wiring. I was hoping that maybe someone has modified their ibanez btb or just knows what's out there better than I do that can give me some suggestions.

I'm thinking about Nordstrand DC5 soapbars but I don't know what to do with the preamp. I would use the Aguilar OPB-3 but it is three band fixed (switchable mid). I'm really hoping that I can leave all of the controls stock and get a good pre that will have a 3 band eq with sweepable mid that I can easily modify without changing pots/etc. and without losing the sweepable mid. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks! Happy New Year by the way!

Hello,

I asked myself the same question. Finally, I jumped to Nordstrand DC5 and Aguilar OBP3.

The result is purely a must...I left all my other basses away.

I think there's nothing this bass could not do!!! Coffe maybe!
