It's a Hohner HB, actually an under license version of the first EMG Select SEHB.
Passive, well balanced humbucking pickup. Not much gain for a humbucker but a broad, high medium rich tone.
It mounts in a guitar humbucker ring.

quick look around got me nothing but there were links to TB about Hohner basses. Do a search here on TB...You are already at the right place I'm sure

Jazz Ad already said it was a license version of the first EMG Select SEHB.

How would you rate these pups:

I'm new to the basses, but i like clear low tones. Is it possible with this combo? Nevermind the amp.

So, I'm a noob, but, it can be used on a guitar?! What does this mean?

Thanks for helping me understand.

Same tone, same gain? Not an upgrade?

EMG once made an entry level pickup range, name Select. One of them was the SEHB model, sized to be mounted on a standard guitar ring. Most bass pickups are screwed directly into the instruments. On guitar the prefered method is to use a frame (ring) attached flat onto the guitar, onto which pickups are then mounted.

Hohner saw this and they thought it was good. So they bought a license to product them under their own name, a process with which they're familiar. They once did the same with Steinberger bridges. The Hohner HB was born. Same pickup, different name.

I know EMG updated their SEHB at least once, but I don't know how different or similar they are to the original. It is not an upgrade anyway, they're within the same range.
