pickup replacement

So . . . looking for some feedback. I own an older Ibanez sr485, and the pickups, from what I can tell, are about the same size as, say, EMG40's. I am looking for a good "fusion" like tone, burpy fingerstyle and great slap tone without having to change settings. The thing though, is that the only replacement pickups I can use are EMG 40DC's or something like that, because of the existing routs of my bass and the narrower string spacing. 40J's or 40p's need 19mm string spacing and mine is like 16.5mm or something.

Whatever pickups I put in will be an improvement, but can I get the tone I'm after with the DC's, or is there another manufactuer out there that I should be checking out?

Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
