Pickup replacement for Bart soapbar bridge pickup ??

Sign in to disble this ad
I have this Cort fretless bass with real Bartolini soapbars and pre-amp. Not the MK-1 series. Very nice.

Here is the bass:

Wanting to see if there is a bridge pickup that would give me a fuller sound than this existing pickup. I stronly lean toward "acoustic" as opposed to " metalic" tonal qualities.

Or should I move this pickup closer to the neck pickup? Additional routing is not a problem.

Wondering about the Delano MC-FE:

I am wanting as fat and as warm a sound as I can get. I know that this is limited by being close to the bridge.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have the same configuration but fretted...well it's already a nice bridge pickup..but without being extreme..maybe just putting another neck pickup but in the bridge position could do something original.. but ..I don't know if it's possible

If you want something warm and fat, consider the Carvin "Icon" soapbar pickups. They're made in the standard Bartolini P2 size (108mm x 32mm) so they should fit in the MK1 pickup cavity with a small gap remaining.

The bridge pickup (model SP-B) is one of the hottest and warmest that I have tried. It doesn't have as much brightness as most other pickups, but the position of your bass's bridge pickup should be able to counteract that and give you a really fat, rich tone.

The neck pickup (model SP-N) is wound to complement the bridge pickup at a standard position, so you should be able to get a nice tone out of both together or individually.

Some people have reported that these pickups sound too "nasal" or "dark" but I think these qualities will be a good match for this bass without sounding metallic or thin.
