Pickup replacement help

Sign in to disble this ad
Is it usually common to change the pots as well when replacing pickups?
I have a bass I made from parts and it sounds great, but I have an old p bass that I recently have installed 2 different pickups SD qp's and dimarzio split p and the sound didnt change from the stocks. Do I need to replace pots with higher k's? r has anyone ever had a bass that did this?

As long as you are not switching from active to passive or vice versa, your current pot values should be fine, unless you desire more or less output/brightness.
