Pickup Screw Static

After installing a new preamp, I noticed that touching the height screws on my bridge pickup results in a crackling, static noise. All wires appear to be secure and I've rubbed down the screws with a dryer sheet to no avail. Any ideas?

They aren't grounded. Put some copper foil in the pickup cavity and ground it, and make sure the screws touch it.
