I am planning on building my own bass and want forum wide opinion of pickup selection.

i usually play metal so i thought EMG, but i also like to play jazz so i thought about other pickups.

I was thinking Q-tuners

I love EMG's. Use of the tone knob is encouraged if you want to switch between metal and jazz. I use EMG's and love the pups.

Villex is a versatile pickup (esp the NVT line). I play both Metal and Jazz with any of my Villex loaded basses

NightTrain1127, why Lindy Fralin? besides the fact that i don't want p or j pickups, forgot to mention that. I would prefer soapbar humbuckers, for their feel and rolling booms that i get from quite a few of them. i would prefer a big low end with a very explosive high but not harsh.
