Pickup Size Woes

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got an SX 5 with Bart's in it. The Bart's would be fine if I was into a darker tone, but I want something that's closer to my MIM J (stock PU's) with a good, strong B.

I want to keep the bass passive, so swapping the pickups is my only option. Turns out, the Bart's are a funny size... something like 95 mm, both pickups.

Nordstrands were my first choice, but are far too large. Dimarzio Ultra J for 5 might fit, but I dunno if the tone is what I want.

I want a high output, passive pickup. I don't minf if it's blade style or humcancelling, as long as it's got punch and balls, and fits . I love the bass, and I don;t want to get rid of it simply because of the pickups.

Try brighter caps, cheap and easy.

Nord will also make them about any size. Both Villex sets I have are dark. Don't mind it and haven't attempted to change it.
