Pickup suggestions for my P bass....

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have checked all the wiring and soldered everything in the places it should be and still have the buzzing sound when my fingers touch the poles. I think I should just switch out the pickups but I am trying to decide whether or not I should go with another manufacture.

I primarily play punk rock and play slap bass as well. If I had to make a selection, I would want a pickup that plays better into the slap part of playing. This is a passive MIA P bass BTW

Anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks!

The Dimarzio Split P with a series/parallel switch will do GREAT, I think.

:-).

Would I have to do any extra routing with a series/parallel switch? I am looking to do as little extra drilling or routing as possible. I don't know if that is possible when switching out pup's though..

You could use a Push/Pull pot for either the volume or tone control. You'll wanna replace the pots with 500K anyways (though, 250K would be fine... it would just open up the sound a bit more for slap).

However, if you drill a 1/4" hole between the pots, on the pickguard, you could use a mini switch. I like real switches better, personally, but either method would work just fine.

So, no, you don't have to.

You could even EQ a good slap tone out of the pickup just wired in series. But I love the series/parallel function on my Split Ps. The Dimarzio instructions say the difference isn't that big, but they're lying.
