Pickup is VERY microphonic...dunno what happened

A few weeks back I bought a new SX J Bass (SJB57 to be exact). I played it for a few days, then took it apart to do the usual fixes. Shielding, CTS pots/orange cap, etc. Put it back together yesterday. No more buzzing, the electronics work great. Everything works as it should (V/V/T controls), no scratchy sounds from pots and played, it sounds great.

The problem is that the neck pickup has become extremely microphonic. Just resting my thumb on it creates noise. If you touch/tap the pup it sounds like tapping a microphone to see if its' on. It really is "that bad." To the best of my memory it wasn't like this before the new parts...or maybe it was and I just couldn't hear it. Either way, it's really annoying. Any ideas for a fix action?

I wanted to update this thread. About a month ago I received a replacement J-bass neck pup from Kurt. Soldered it in and it's perfect. Sounds great, no microphonic problems. GREAT customer service from Rondo! Sent me a new pup, no questions asked. Of course, I did provide my original order number, etc. Got to "trust but verify" in this day and age.

Thank you, Kurt!

Even without the order number etc, I'd bet Kurt would sell a pickup or two for not a lot of cash, or ask folks here. SX pups come up in the classifieds all the time! Hell If I had one here I'd give it to you. Sadly I do not.

A pair of replacement pickups from many other sources can be had for less than the cost of a nice dinner.

Wow! That's an awesome story! I was thinking about asking Kurt about my bass too after noticing the pickup was crazy micro phonic. I ended up taking the springs out from under it and replacing it with pieces of a mouse pad I had laying around. Seemed to fix the problem also.

I'm new. Who is Kurt and does he do six string guitar pickups as well as bass?
