Pickup the World or K&K Pure Bass for a Thunderchief???

Sign in to disble this ad
I am not very happy at all with the amplified sound of my Thunderchief 4 banger. It has a very uneven string balance that I assume is due to a poorly positioned piezo. It is also very percussive, and the fingerstyle tone has air movement tone to each note like "pfff"........kinda wierd but it's the only way to describe. So, I thought about moving away from piezos all together. Since I don't have tons of money I have to rely on advice from my fine talkbass brothers. I have narrowed it down to the two companies mentioned in the title. Could you tell me 1. Which in your opinion would yield the move "unamplified" like tone when amped??? 2. Which is less prone to feedback???

FWIW:

You might read reveiws on Tacoma's on harmonycentral.com and whatever google pulls up. Never had an ABG but nothing uncommon about feedback in them or hollowbody's but there's ways to deal with it. I'm guessing the piezo has a seperate control so that you should be able to tone down. Also strings can make a world of difference on any instrument, even more so acoustic. Typically such instruments are not easy to access and if this is one, I'd go to some length before looking into changing out electronics.
