I have one in each of my 2 Jazz's. One has a stock set of MIJ 80's pups w/ TI Super Alloys and it goes from a whisper to a roar. The other is in a 90's MIM body with a maple fretboard strung with D'addario Chrome flats and a stock set of pups. It's more subtle due to the flats but still gets any tone I need.
I've always wanted to try a set of Nordtrand NJ4SE's with the JZ3 but I just missed the ones sold in the accesories forum. |

Then, if you're still gassin', go for a slight upgrade but something subtle like Antiquities or Vintage replacements. Nothing too "hot". Quote:

Italy for $65 USD. Of course I detached the neck and declared it as $50 for customs. It took almost 3 weeks for delivery but all went well. Perhaps if you're looking for (new)parts/ pieces you could try having a (trusted) TB member shipping them for you. Just an idea. |

If i Buy off talkbass ill try that
I was going to buy an SX bass a while ago
but didn't because of shipping costs
it still would of been worth it but i couldn't justify 100 bucks for shipping
even stuff in the eastern states is still expensive to ship over |

Just an idea. | Did something similar and sent a Marcus Miller to Australia for around $100. Something major to keep in mind is that there is a maximum for length plus girth at which point you have to ship global express (I think that's what it's called) where it will cost over $300. The Marcus neck is 20 frets and placed diagonally, I was just able to get the box dimensions a half inch under the maximum for the standard international shipping rates. If it were a 24 fret neck, the box would have exceeded the dimensions. Just wanted to mention this to save someone from quoting too low of a shipping price on eBay. |

I have found they are incompatible, with a drop in signal level and a constant background hiss. Neither product is bad on its own, or with other parts, but together they fail. |

| | Why Can't We All Just Get Along? | | Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Somewhere near Raleigh | | | I installed a JZ3 on an SX Fretless Jazz, but I wanted to see what kind of difference it made before I decided which pickup set I would use to replace the stock ones...well, the stock pickups are still in there and I saved myself $$$. The bass (before the project) was kind of listless and dull, but I didin't think it was the pickups. I had tried 4 or 5 different string sets and even changed the fretless neck for a fretted one and tried rounds...nothing floated my boat with this bass.
Audere JZ3 + Fender Nylon Rounds + stock pickups = Keeper
I was literally going to give this bass away before my son and I decided to use it as a project bass. It has been spurred to life and it gets tons of constant play.
I agree with the notion that you should try the stock MIM p/u's first. I think you'll be surprised with the results.
Good luck, have fun.
