Depends on the bass. If its a black jazz with white p/g i like a black neck pup and a white bridge. But most basses i prefer black.

But chrome is shiny..and shiny is good.(But I don't like chrome pUs on a bass.)So, If im just looking at a pickup that came out of a box..I might look at a chrome one.

Cream.

99% of basses seem to have black pickups, so I always really enjoy seeing cream covers.
The problem is, they don't work on every bass, aesthetically, and of course, they are not always available, if you have pickups that don't have removable covers, for example.

Wood covers are nice, too!

I really enjoy the cream covers as well. not for every bass, but there's nothing like a walnut p/black pickguard with cream pickup covers.

Ash bodied, natural finish; maple board; black pickguard = Cream.
