Pickups giving off nasty sound

i recently wired up my bass after getting wires to connect the pots.
But regardless of which pickup i use it gets that really high pitched cracking (if you have the high all the way up bass all the way down) does anyone know which sound i'm refering too?

Is this a typical problem that i am experiencing?

Soundclips would definitely help. My first guess just based on what you've written is that there is a bogus solder joint which shifts around, making/breaking contact a bunch and causing that crackling.
