Pickups the same size as Bart MK1's?

Sorry if this has been done to death, a search on "Bartolini MK1" gave me EVERY thread where Barts are mentioned, which made it considerably harder.

Anyways, I dig the MK-1 package on my SR506, but I think I'd kinda like more output and more of an "Edgy" tone, which I understand would be in the pickups, as the MK1's are more warm than sharp.

So, seeing as I'd like a edgier tone, I'm thinking maybe EMG's. I'd like a 45DC and 45CS (bridge & neck, respectively). A check on the EMG website said they are 4.25 inches long, which match up with my Barts, but I don't know how wide the EMGs would be. My Barts are about 1.33 inches.

If any EMG DC users could tell me how wide your pickups are, that'd probably help.

Thanks a ton dudes,
Steve

I believe the DC's would be 1.5" wide.

Damn, that sucks if it's like that.

Although I'm not sure, I like the tone I get from my bass, it's just I want more edge. Worth changing pickups, or just wait until I get an EMG-equipped ESP/LTD bass (not a 6'er though). That's my ultimate question, I guess.

I have a Cort/Elrick JP5 which also uses the MK1 pickups.

I put a set of Nordstrand Big Singles in and it's a perfect fit, and an easy install.

How do you find the Big Single as opposed to the Standard MK-1's? Are you using the stock pre?
