Which pickups should I go with in my VM Fretless?

Currently, I've got dimarzio ultra jazz pickups in there. I HATE the sound. I'm thinking the stock pickups sounded better, really. I only put the dimarzios in there because I just had the set laying around.

So yeah, I guess I'm looking for something that works well with a fretless jazz bass. Obvioiusly the ultra jazzes with their scoopiness do not. Any suggestions guys?

In fact, any suggestions on pickups AND mods?

The Fender SCN Noiseless pups may work well there. I have them in my Jazz and the sound is very nice, not too bright. I have been tempted to get another set for my fretless.

Honestly that's a real nice bass just as it is. Granted, I'm not a fretless expert but I'd put the original pups back in and enjoy it.

The stock pickups are pretty good actually. I am running Nordstrand nj4se's in my fretless J and really like them. They are pricey though. I don't know that I'd spend as much as the instrument is worth on new pickups in this case.

I know EMGs don't get as much love round here as I think they should, but I love the EMG J set in a fretless for the absolute clarity of tone.
