Piezio GOing bad?

Have a preamp on my acoustic bass. After a while playing it starts to rumble like a thunderstorm. Replaced the entire preamp and it is still doing it.

COuld the peizeo strip be going bad? I am not familiar with them as I have been a regular electronic type of guy
