PJ advice, anyone ever put one in the 70's spot

I am thinking about routing out for a J pup in my MIM 50's P (alder with maple board). I like the bass a lot but would like to get a little more versatility.

Anyone ever try a PJ with a 70's pickup location?

I am thinking a Duncan Hot Stack would match pretty well with a 10.5k stock Fender pickup. Any suggestions?
