Which PJ set?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a bolt on fender style bass with PJ pickups configuration. Since I am not that happy with the pickups installed I would like to change tham with a well matched set, aiming at a nice balance within output of the P and J pickups. I would like to avoid big difference in terms of sound and output from the 2 pickups.
Honestly only set that I have tried which was good on this side is EMG.
Do you have other suggestions?
Thank you.

I'm very happy with my nordstrand pj set. Don't know what sound you're aiming for though

I have EMGs in my Yamaha Fretless and DiMarzios in my precision. I'm happy with both of them - the EMGs have a "smoother" sound. For both sets, the bridge pickup needs to be a lot nearer the strings than the neck pickup to balance the outputs.
