i think the question is a little general; some humbuckers and P pickups may be better for fretless than others. i don't have an answer for you, but i can give you an unneeded bump...

Thanks, just a parts build, was gonna go with humbuckers, but all fretless's that I've played have J's. My thinking was that a PJ would compromise nicely.
