Question Placing two j style pickup together near the bridge. Any Issues?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an old musicman style bass with passive electronics and what appears to be two jazz bass pickups stuck together near the bridge (like a roscoe beck fender bass with one pickup). The bass sounds great unplugged but has a very thin sound when plugged into an amp. I am considering purchasing a set of j style pickups sticking them together and replacing the old pickup with this. My question is whether there will be any issues with a pickup configuration of this kind.

P.s the bass currently has one voume and one tone control. This was my first bass and i want to bring it back to life and to live playing standard.

It worked fine for Berry Oakley.
