PLAYING 3 or more Basses

Sign in to disble this ad
What do you use if you want to bring and play 3 or more basses to a gig. I have a 5 string that is good for some songs, a fretless and a 4string I want to use for slap. I currently use an a/b box for two, is there something for switching between 3 or more??

I just hit the mute button on my amp, unplug the cable from one bass, and plug it into the bass I want to use next. Does it really need to be more complicated than that?

Cool

If you have to do it cheap, chain 2 ABY boxes so that the first box selects either a bass or the other box and the other box selects the two other basses. Not a great solution because you can get a lot of noise this way.

If you have to do it well, find a used Raven Labs MDB-1.

+1. That's what I always do. Takes 2 seconds...

If you're dying to get a gizmo to do it for you, loopmaster makes some good units.

thanks for the responses. I often loop my cords through my strap to keep it in place and often do not have time to fumble with walking back from the front of the stage to my amp (to mute it) or fumbling with trying to get the cord unplugged and plugged in. A floor mounted mute switch would probably work though. As it is when I bring two basses, I barely have time to take one off and slip the other on and stomp and go.

I loop my cable through the strap as well. Maybe I have more time between songs than you do? I don't know...it has never really been a problem for me to just switch as I mentioned.

Kick the TU-2 tuner to mute the bass, unplug cable from A, swap basses, plug into B. Check tune, kick TU-2, play.

Someone can announce on the PA to cover, or you can just take 20 seconds to make the swap.

I use a wireless. Just step on the tuner, unplug and replug.
