Please Help!

I own a new Ibanez sr300 and the darn thing is awfully quiet for an active bass (even too quiet for a passive bass).

also, the E and G strings on it feel weak and dull compared to the A and D strings.

what's wrong with this thing and how do I fix it?
Do I have to remagnetize the pickups?

I really don't feel like replacing the pups, or spending too much money...

1. replace the 9v battery.

2. raise the pickups higher, but not too high.

Tried that. no luck. I also tried to adjust string height via saddles. little difference, but doesn't make enough change to fix this weak and dull issue.
