Question Please help identify this Jazz pickup...

Sign in to disble this ad
I removed this jazz pickup from a project bass and have no idea what it might be as there are no markings on it... It has a long magnet on the back covering the ends of the pole pieces and seems to be sealed with clear wax. I'm guessing it's nothing special and is a Squier/SX pickup but a positive identification of it would be great. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I looked at a bunch of SX pickup pictures from this forum as well as some other places on the internet and have decided it isn't one... I'm wondering if it makes sense to try to remove the 'wax' or whatever it is and post a picture or two of the guts for better identification.

nah, it's just a regular ceramic magnet far-east cheapie, not worth spending any time on. it could have come out of any of a dozen different budget import basses.

walterw, thanks for the info. i had a feeling it was a no-name but wanted to make sure it wasn't anything special before listing it for a few bucks shipped in the classifieds section!
