Polyfusion pre for my Zon or .....?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a Zon Sonus just before Christmas. It really is an amazing bass .

The original preamp fitted to the bass was a Bartolini NTMB-918F. The previous owner had this changed to a Keen 3 band with bass/treble cut or boost, mid cut or boost and a selector switch to select the mid frequency, volume and pickup blend.

I'd like to change this, I'm thinking either a Polyfusion, (if I can buy these to have fitted by my guitar tech), or possibly an Audere.

I have an Audere fitted to my Sei bass that's really nice sounding.

Anyone have any experience of both preamps, how do they compare ?

Thanks !

I got the Polyfusion in my Legacy and it really complements to the sound of the bass.
If you search the forum, there's supposed to be a Polyfusion for sale!

FWIW, I have the 3 band Bart pre in my Sonus, and it absolutely kills. Fits the sound of the bass beautifully.

I had two for sale, but they both just sold!

They're great preamps- particularly in instruments that aren't intensely bright. I find I can't EQ the way I want to in a bass that is naturally bright...but then I grew up on Bartolini everything, so I tend to like things dark.

If you like a cleaner, clearer sounding preamp, go for the polyfusion. A bit darker, go for Bartolini. More headache, Audere.

The Zon/PF preamp will be the easiest/cheapest installation.
