Pondering new pickups for my USA Spector NS-5P

Sign in to disble this ad
The NS-5P is an amazing bass. It is loaded with EMG40DCs. I tend not to like a dual coil sound and just can't help but wonder what this bass would sound like as a PJ. Or a PP. Or even a JJ!

So I was trying to decide between EMG 40P5 and 40J and a pair of 40P5s when I saw the X-series and though that might be even better.

Too many choices without even going into other brands. What does everybody think?

I've thought about using their P and J pickups that are mounted with a soapbar style cover in one of my basses to make it a PJ, so I'd go with those. I don't remember the specific model numbers off the top of my head though...
