popping noise when slapping

Sign in to disble this ad
the pickups are "popping" when i slap the strings on my bass. how do i fix it?

Yep. Are they exposed pole pickups? That'll do it every time. You may need to have you bass set up with a little higher action and lower the pickup height or just change your technique. Try to hit closer to the neck than directly over the pickups if that's what you're doing.

do you hit the pickup poles when you slap? because that's most likely what it is, and the only way i know to fix it is to buy a covered/shielded pickup

yeah idk it's weird, the action is REALLY high on this bass already. it's not mine, it's a buddy of mine's. the pickups do look like they're sitting a little high though...
