Possible preamp swap on Marcus Miller Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I put in a John East preamp on my Marcus Miller and like it a lot. However, curiosity has got the best of me and I have been looking at the Aguilar preamps. Has anyone used either of these preamps as to be able to compare their characteristics?

Órale,
I've heard alot of great thing's about the East Pre....I replaced my Marcus pre with a Aguilar OBP-1 and Loved it! Nice bottom, and really sweet top. But, If I were going to add a Pre and not worry about cost, My pick would be the J-Retro or Sadowsky, especially if you're looking for "That" tone...

By "that tone" or you referring to Marcus Miller? I already have the John East J-Retro in my jazz and like it. I was just curious about the Aguilar pres.

I think I was momentarily crazy or something. My bass sounds sweet and I shouldn't mess with it.

I wouldn't mess with it either. The East Preamp is a fantastic piece of engineering.

I have a J-Retro on m J and IMO it's the most great sounding and versatile preamp out there.

Yeah, it's a great sounding bass. Sometimes, I get the urge to tinker and coming on here and reading about stuff doesn't help matters.
