Pot value for Aguilar preamp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I'm about to add an Aguilar preamp to a bass I had built. It has a P/J configuration. The Aggie came with stacked treble/bass and mid pots. I am going to be adding push-pull volume, blend, and master-tone. Everything I've read seems to suggest 250k pots but just wanted to get some opinions. I don't know a lot about the technical aspects, but I've been told that I should match my volume and tone to whatever I choose for my blend. I've also been told 500k will have more bite/high end. I don't really want to make the bass any more aggressive sounding since the Aguilar should give it plenty of growl already. So I'm thinking 250k for blend, volume, and tone but wanted to get some other opinions...
Thanks!

What effect does 1 meg pot have? Also, audio vs. linear
Passive basses and the volume control, an explanation (science warning)
