Hey, recently my cheap p bass wiring had broken and the only way to fix it without spending money (I don't have money) was to rewire without the pots. I connected everything quite well by holding the wires, tips and sleeves together with fuse wire wrapped tightly and multiple times round the joins (I can't afford a soldering iron or solder).
Anyway, the tone I've got is something which I really like and I was wondering if you guys would be interested in hearing it (the strings are 2 months old [I play them a lot ] and kind of need to be replaced so don't judge the strings ). Also it is very loud now |

There is almost 0 resistance between the pups and the output. That means you will have to control your volume and tone directly from the amp. Nothing wrong with that, perse, but if you need any control at all during a song, you can't just turn up/ down or adjust tone on the fly. This may work fine if you're playing alone, and don't need to make any fine adjustments, however.
I'm not sure if it's still around, but I had some soldering tape years ago for quick emergency repairs. You could use a match or lighter to melt it. It was pretty cheap too.

If a producer asked for a different tone, he had a switch mounted on the pickguard which was connected to nothing. He would flick the switch and the producer would be happy. I believe a session guitarist, maybe Tommy Tedesco or someone like that, had a "producer switch" too. |

| | | I think it actually gives you more control over your tone and volume because from an eq pedal or a decent amp head a lot more tones become available because of your fuller frequency range |

I think what JimInRadfordVA was asking for, is someone near you may have a soldering gun and could do a proper solder job, or possibly fix it on the cheap or free for you or maybe has pots you could use. I would, if close.

ssssssssssssssssss... *cough* Dude *cough cough* that's sad
Soldering will make a better, more solid connection. If it works for you, though... |

Old sheet metal worker, so "Soldering Iron" has a slightly different meaning.
Maybe I could have said "pencil" ?
