Sign in to disble this ad
basically what the diference between these 2 kinds of pots?
wich difference will it make if change my squier(VM p bass)`s pots(500) with dimarzio pots
also does changing the cap helps to the tone?
what if dont put the cap and just bypass the tone pot would that improve the tone?

250K is typically used for single coils and 500K for humbuckers. If you put in a smaller pot for the DiMarzio, you'll get less volume and high-end roll-off.

"Help" and "improve" in regards to tone is very subjective. For example, some people don't like the full treble put out by unpotted pickups, so roll-off is desirable.

but will it affect the tone to put dimarzio pots? or the tone will be the same but the pots are going to be more durable?

500K pots will have a higher resonant peak than 250K pots when the pickups are run wide open. This will most likely be more highes in the 1 to 4 kHz range.

250K pots used for volumes will blend more gradual with more bottom end when rolled off than 500K pots.

If you want more high end like with the 500K pots, you can use the no load 250K pots or a 250K pot with a DPDT switch on the bottom of it that switchs the pot resistance out of circuit when desired.
