pots, and brightening tone

So, I have this Reverend BH5 that I like a lot...and want to like more.
It's got two "stacked JJ pickups," and you can switch them for single coil, both parallel, both series.

Even in single coil mode, and especially when using both coils of either/both pickups, it's darker than I like.

Not sure what pots and caps are in there, but can I switch from 250/500 to 1meg and perhaps a different cap....and brighten it up enough to make it snappier ya think?

pics, for fun and education:

it's the one on the right here:

Higher value caps will help, sure, but I imagine it'd be good to consider changing out the pups as well.

Changing pickups on such a low production, and out of production bass would not be a great idea in terms of keeping it's value intact...

Ok then. Try two 1meg volume pots and a 500K tone pot with a new cap, maybe a .022uF or a .033uF, and go from there. That'll go quite a ways to brightening things up considerably.

I wouldn't change the pickups either. But yeah, the Reverends I've played have been pretty dark. If you change the caps and pots, please let us know what kind of results you had.
