Yes, it means something...
It is the amount of current in milliAmps the pedal requires.
The power supply must be able to supply AT LEAST that number.
There is _no_ danger in using a power supply that can provide more - the pedal will just take what it needs. There is no problem having more available.
A 'bigger than necessary' power supply will (probably) be bigger, more expensive, and heavier than it "has to be" - but a nice safety margin is a good thing to have. A power supply that is providing all it's got all the time will be more highly stressed.
