pre-amp probs

Hello,

I play an Cort Artisan B4 (I don't think the the pickups are active, but it should have an active pre-amp). It has 2 Bartolini MK1 soapbox pickups, a 5 knob (volume, pickup, mid, low, treble) setup, & an off/on switch. Unfortunately 3 knobs (mid, low & treble) don't seem to be working. I've tried different batteries, & different amps. What could be the problem? I don't know much of electronics, so could this be expensive?

Before you do anything, you need to KNOW what the controls do and if they're working properly.
