Pre-amp in SPECTOR NS2A?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey

I was wondering if anyone can help me identify the pre-amp in my Spector NS2A. I've heard several times people replacing the stock passive EMG Selects by 'real' active EMG's. I'm wondering can I just swap in the pick-ups, or does there need to be bigger modifications to be made?

Here's a picture of the electronics:

Thanks alot in advance

That's a proprietary preamp. You should be able to put in active EMG's If the preamp can't handle them, swap that out for an EMG BTS or some other preamp. Chances are it will sound much better. If this bass came with selects, it also came with a budget preamp.

Ok.........same pre-amp on my ns2a's and i did replace the pick ups w/emg's and it rocks,so that's all you need.I like the sound of it w the emg's but other people have gone to the emg pre-amps.

+ 1. I did the same with my NS2A - replaced the Select pickups with real EMGs, and left the stock preamp in. Sounds terrific.

I thought that the NS-2's and NS-2a's had the same preamp, just the pickups were different? If so, then just switch them out to emg's and you're all set....

Mine came with EMG pickups, so I replaced the preamp with a vol-vol-bass/treble-aural exciter EMG cofiguration and now it kills!!! it's my 4string of choice for modern sound
