Pre-amp volume differences?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so I've got two active basses that i use in the same band practice (one in E & one in drop-D) the basses are a Traben Chaos Obsesion (E) & a Dean Demonator (Drop-D). The problem is though, my Dean is alot louder than my Traben, should this happen? I'm thinking theyll have different pre-amps in them, I wouldnt have thought that it would make that much of a noticable difference, but it seems to. Are there an solutions, other than simply turning the volume down on my Dean?

Check pickup height and check the batteries ...

But in reality some basses are louder than others ... passive and active ... the beauty of active is a small change in volume doesn't change the tone.

So turn down the Dean.

Or get a 5 string bass.

That's just normal, assuming both basses are set up correctly and have good batteries.

My passive Ric copy is louder than any active bass I've owned, and my active Jackson is far louder than the other modern-style (Sadowsky, Roscoe, Fender Deluxe) active basses I've owned.
