I assembling a parts-bass P-J that I want to string BEAD. I'm having it routed for an Electrosocket side jack, but I don't want to do any other routs.
I'm thinking that I'd like to add an active pre to work in this setup, but I'm limited to the three holes in the pickguard. (standard P body rout)
Suggestions?

BTW, I have a Sadowsky pre in my other (active) P-J, but that's a 4 holer.

I'm currently looking at the Bartolini NTBT pre, but have no experience with it. Does anyone here?

| | | | Basslines and EMG where the only makers of preamps that met my requirements for center freqs. Aquilar, bartolini, glock, ect didnt have the controls at freqs I wanted. For 2band eq I prefer the basslines bloackout, for 3band eq I prefer the emg.

You could configure it as you've mentioned.
The 'Z-mode' switch can be set as desired, and then safely tucked away in the cavity or behind the pickguard, if you don't need to mess with it often.
I think I used to have a bass with a Bart NTBT pre-amp. It sounded nice.

i've wired plenty with bypass switches, and set flat they're pretty close to the same sound as bypassed.
