Pre-wired Passive Bass Harness

Sign in to disble this ad
HELP!!! - I have a Yamaha BB5 in which the active electronics were shot. Per Yamaha, the PUPs can be wired as passive. I tried wiring new pots myself and damaged the pots while soldering the grounds to them. I have read extensively on grounding pots and cannot get it to work. I have all of the right soldering items but I cannot do it. Does anyone know were I can buy a prewired passive bass harness ( 2 volume and 2 tone so all I have to do is splice and solder together the wires. Thanks!

What brand of pots did you use? Some of them have some sort of coating on them that needs to sanded off. I use a dremel and take it down to the bare metal.

Same here. I also put a dab of tinning flux on it.

Most regular soldering irons put out enough heat to do this well IMHO. I keep an extra-large one around for this exact job. I don't remember the exact wattage, just that it's big and doesn't fit in my soldering iron holder. Works well though.
