Preamp wire extention...?

has anyone ever extended the wires on their preamp and find it to be trouble? I want to do this for my bartolini preamp NTMB-918F 4.7 A/P two of the wires is short for where I need to place the box.. if anyone has done this, please help and what gauge wire should I use? thanks again....

The wire gauge does not matter. 22AWG is common for instrument wire. Thinner gauges are often used for preamp wire, but they tend to be more delicate.

The tricky part is soldering two wires together neatly. Make sure you have one of those solder helper tools with the adjustable alligator clip "hands," to hold the wires in place as you solder. Then slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over the joint and heat it up.

If you can, use wires of same or similar gauge... I twist mine together (ends opposed, vs ends together) prior to soldering

Having similar gauges allows for both wires to twist equally around each other...

It's a stronger, neater job overall
