Project p bass pickup suggestions
Please do not tell me your favourite, i just need suggestions based on what im looking for.
Try to explain this best i can.
Looking for something with a strong output.
Thick toned with oomph but not boomy or muddy sounding. Something without bright highs, more mellow and smooth highs or not very much highs at all.
Will be playing with flats and a pick.
Duncan spb-2 or 3, done.
^ yeah probably
i just put an spb-1 in my bass and i expected it to be a little brighter than it is. output is quite strong too. will have to play with the EQ some but the way it was the other night when we practiced, it sounded alot like you described.
The sound you describe is spot on with the sound I get with my Lollar PB pickup.
My understanding of 1/4 pounders is that they have lots of lows but also lots of highs.
Uber punchy without being really bright? The SPB-3 can be really boomy.
The Dimzarzio Model P is exactly what you're asking for
for the highs you can always roll off your tone knob.
Lindy Fralin P bass pickups.
DiMarzio Split 'P'
DiMarzio 'Split P' = Very Broad Frequency Spectrum = Strong Output = Strong Lows = Smooth Mids = Barking Highs With Bite
I just love this pick up. Simply roll off your highs with your P's tone control. Sculpt your EQ with your pre-amp/front end.[/IMG]
Based on your description, I'd recommend a Dimarzio Model P.
Here's an example of the Model P in context. I'm pushing a tube preamp pretty hard, so the tone has a bit of grind from that:
